·         According to yoga teachings people who suffer from chronic joint pain or arthritis should spend more time on repetitive exercises such as loosening and stretching, than on steady stretches

·         If using steroids, avoid violent movements and falls as steroids induce osteoporosis, increasing the risk of getting fractures

·         If movements are painful, concentrate on exercises that are more assisted by gravity or in which gravity is eliminated

·         Exercising in a swimming pool is recommended; it is more comfortable and helps avoid cold exposure not only during exercise and but even otherwise

·         For people suffering from joint disorders, it is necessary to maintain a strict seven days a week exercise schedule

Pranayama

Simple Pranayama is recommended, involving deep breathing.  But special type of Pranayama (Inhalation via right nostril and exhalation via both nostrils but creating a sound of Hmm.. (Honey bee Sound) from the throat) has been found to be very effective in Arthritis patients.
